The widely used Buddhist flag has blue, yellow, red, white and orange bands and a final band combining those colours. It expresses a shared Buddhist identity across many communities. Explanations of each colour vary, so one symbolic account should not be presented as universal doctrine. Treat the flag respectfully and recognise that shared symbols can coexist with differences in language, ritual and teaching.
