Buddhist visual culture includes sculpture, painting, architecture, calligraphy and manuscripts. Images can support remembrance and learning, but styles do not tell the whole story of a community. A lotus or hand gesture may need local explanation. Look closely, ask respectfully and credit the maker where known. Creating new religious art calls for care with iconography and honesty about whether an image is historical or imagined.
