Read the lesson

An arahant, or arhat, has ended the defilements that sustain bondage. In Theravāda, arahantship is the liberation realised by an awakened disciple; a Buddha discovers and teaches the path without a living teacher of that path. Other traditions discuss these ideals differently. Do not confuse liberation with impressive manners or unusual experiences. For everyday learning, look at the reduction of greed, hatred and delusion.
