Sati, often translated as mindfulness, involves remembering to attend carefully. In the path it works with discernment and ethical intention. The four establishments concern body, feelings, mind and mental phenomena. Attention alone is not enough: a person can concentrate while causing harm. Notice what you are attending to and why. A moment of awareness can inform the next choice without becoming a promise of instant peace.
