In Mahāyāna, śūnyatā is commonly explained as the absence of independent, inherent existence. It does not mean that nothing matters or that actions have no consequences. Dependent arising and emptiness are closely related in Madhyamaka explanations. The Heart Sūtra is an important text, but interpretations require context. Use the teaching to question rigid grasping, not to dismiss someone’s pain as unreal.
