Read the lesson

Compassionate character develops through intention, action and reflection. The four brahmavihāras cultivate goodwill, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity. The perfections add qualities such as generosity, patience and truthfulness. In a disagreement, listen carefully, name the issue and avoid humiliating someone. Firmness can protect people from harm. Kindness is not a demand to accept abuse or take on responsibilities beyond your capacity.
