The Theravāda thirty-one-plane scheme groups eleven sense-sphere realms, sixteen fine-material realms and four immaterial realms. All remain within conditioned existence; nibbāna is not a thirty-second realm. The scheme belongs to traditional cosmology and meditation literature, not astronomical measurement. Its educational emphasis is that even refined happiness is impermanent. Study it with its tradition named, without presenting it as the only Buddhist map of existence.
