In AN 6.63, kamma is linked to intention expressed through body, speech and mind. Rebirth is a traditional Buddhist teaching about continuity without an unchanging soul; explanations differ among schools. Kamma is not a licence to infer someone’s past from their illness or poverty. Present choices still matter. Ask what intention guides an action and whether its likely effects support or undermine the wellbeing of others.
