Dependent origination explains the conditional arising and cessation of suffering. In the twelve-link presentation, ignorance conditions formations, with the sequence extending through consciousness, contact, feeling, craving and clinging to birth, ageing and death. Different traditions explain its scope in different ways. It is more precise than saying “everything is connected”. Consider one condition you can change, such as pausing before responding to a provocation.
