Service can express generosity and compassion through food support, education, care and environmental work. Good intentions need practical competence, respect and accountability. Ask what people need before deciding for them, protect dignity and privacy, and work within your skills. Do not make aid conditional on religious participation. Sustainable service also includes fair workloads and the willingness to learn from those receiving support.
